Balmoral Eye Clinic

DAWSON-WAM completed the installation of 140 linear metres of contiguous pile wall. The site was bounded on one side by the Belfast to Dublin rail link and on the other side by the Kings Hall flyover.

Ground conditions on site were very poor and the site contained much of the remains of foundations from a substantial structure. To make matters worse the area was backfilled with heavy brick and block rubble through which all piles were to be installed.

DAWSON-WAM installed the cantilever basement structure using 450mm diameter reinforced concrete piles. A pile cap was then constructed and excavation allowed the installation of a further 30 load-bearing cased CFA piles.
