DAWSON-WAM have a longstanding proven track record implementing flood protection schemes for both the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development Rivers Agency within Northern Ireland and the Environment Agency within the UK. We can offer a complete in house design and build service for:

  • Sheet piled flood walls (vibration & vibrationless installation)
  • Secant piled flood walls

DAWSON-WAM have recently completed a landmark project for the DARD Rivers Agency in Moneymore, Northern Ireland. The project was awarded on the basis of an alternative design proposal consisting of a secant piled flood wall with a decorative 'natural stone look' concrete wall cast on top to the required flood protection level. There was restricted access with the flood wall requiring constructed within 300mm of existing dwellings from within the 5m wide river channel. Please view our case studies for further information.

With an overall budget in excess of £20m the River Quaggy Flood Alleviation Scheme was the largest of its kind in the UK during 2006/7.
The supply and driving of some 1,350 tonnes of steel sheet piling in flood walls to both banks, and the construction of earth embankments totalling some 12,000 cu.metres including over 7,000 cu.metres of imported clay fill
The contract was for the provision of a flood alleviation scheme for the lower reaches of the Burren River where it flows through an urban area.
